When I was in high school (in the mid-sixties), my best friend’s dad bought her a 1965 Spitfire for her birthday. She was very generous and let me drive her car as much as she did. We had a great time cruising the local hangouts and the drive-in restaurant. Everyone showed up on the weekends to show off their rides and hopefully meet “someone cool and special.” After years of hearing all the stories about that car and our adventures and how the sound and the sheer pleasure of driving it is still fresh in my memory after all these years, my husband bought me a 1975 Spitfire 1500 and we are making our own memories after restoring it. I still love that sound.
