I always loved the body style of the Spitfire. I have been married for 2 ½ years. After one year of marriage I was driving past this red Spitfire daily at a car lot. It was December and cold. I finally stopped and checked it out. The car dealer was selling it for a friend. I sat down in the car and it started right up. I called my wife and told her I was in love. A week later my wife handed me the cash she had saved unknown to me and I bought my 1977 Red Spitfire 1500. It is in very good condition. I have done only a few repairs to the car. I tracked down the owner two times back and was told he drove the car in parades in Saline. He sold it because he wasn’t being fair to the car with it not being driven much and sold it. Only to become my pride.
PS- I had my Chevy Chase moment with the car. My wife and I were going for ice cream one evening and pulled up to a stop light and a blonde in a Ford Mustang convertible came around the corner looking at me with a smile saying something to me. I turned to my wife and said it’s a chick magnet too.
