Ricky Boler 1974 Spitfire

Here is one that made me crackup, I taught my Daughter how to drive this Spitfire, when teaching her to drive, as we would get to a hill and have to stop and start, I would always grab the Emergency Brake to keep us from rolling back. I wouldn't say anything and I don't even know if she would notice sometimes, but she got to do very well.

Any way, she had been off at college and hadn't driven the car for a while, so she said lets go for a ride in the Spitfire and I said ok. She was doing fine driving and we had started back home where there is a hill at a red light and usually we roll back. We were stopped at the light and as always I had my hand on the E brake but hadn't pulled it. In my mind, I was saying we're going to roll back so I was ready to pull it, but still I hadn't, but I was getting ready, ready, waiting and ready… The light changed and she gassed and let off the clutch like a pro, the car didn't roll back an inch. We hadn't gone 5 feet and I'm saying to myself, “Dang, she did good.”

Just as I thought that she looked over at me smiling and said, “I did good, didn't I,” and I just cracked up laughing and I said, “Yes, you did." She had bested the Old Man. I still think of that day and just smile and laugh to myself.
